Features & Benefits
The Alloptic product family delivers more bandwidth, at lower costs and offers greater revenue opportunities than alternative broadband access solutions.
Delivers TRUE Triple-Play Services
Alloptic's patented Gigabit Ethernet Passive Optical Network (GEPON) technology along with our flexible network design provides the optimum access platform for carriers enabling the most cost effective delivery of Video, Data, and Voice services.
End-to-End Solution
Alloptic is currently the only supplier in this industry to support every major market application. Our flexible and robust GEPON architecture enables deployment of any combination; single family, multi-dwelling or business ONUs on a single high bandwidth PON. This provides efficiencies and cost benefits unparalleled in the industry.
Flexible. Modular. Scalable.
Alloptic's GEPON is designed to be the most flexible and scalable broadband access solution on the market. The system's flexibility and scalability are achieved in three ways:
  • Alloptic's patent pending technology leverages an IP/ Ethernet architecture that makes it simpler, more adaptable and less expensive than PONs based on the Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) protocol.

  • Alloptic is the only company to integrate legacy TDM and RF functions along with forward-looking Ethernet and IP Video capabilities, making the system highly adaptable to varying company needs.

  • Alloptic created a flexible plug-in architecture that allows customers to incrementally build out their networks on a "pay as you go" basis by mixing and matching cards in the Chassis and ONUs.
Proven Technology Complementary to Existing Infrastructures
The Alloptic solution is currently deployed and providing services around the globe and throughout the United States. We are an industry leader in providing multiple services over fiber.

The Alloptic Ethernet vision delivers solutions that accelerate broadband growth at lower costs than traditional technologies. Alloptic proposes a technology shift towards the use of Ethernet in the public access network. Ethernet is a well-proven technology with unrivalled price performance ratio, and is the natural IP transport technology. Virtually all IP traffic begins on Ethernet. Preserving the Ethernet link layer throughout the network removes the need for costly gateways and simplifies the network design and operations significantly. The combination of IP based services over Ethernet allows for flexible and cost effective solutions for delivering new services on demand, eliminating the need for costly switches and routers. This ultimately translates into cost savings and revenue growth. The introduction of FTTx services and infrastructure is an excellent starting point for this paradigm shift introducing flexible, scalable, low cost Ethernet technology for consumer and business needs, both today and well into the future.
Cost-Effective
Alloptic's GEPON offers service providers unparalleled opportunities to reduce the cost of installing, managing and delivering existing service offerings. The Alloptic product portfolio allows service providers to:
  • Eliminate active electronic components such as regenerators and amplifiers from the outside plant and replace them with less expensive passive optical splitters/couplers that are simpler, easier to maintain and are longer lived.

  • Conserve fiber and port space in the central office by passively coupling traffic from up to 64 optical network units onto a single fiber that runs from a neighborhood demarcation point back to the service provider central office, headend or POP.

  • Share the cost of expensive active electronic components and lasers over many subscribers.

  • Deliver more services per fiber and slash the cost per megabit.
Easy to Integrate, Deploy and Manage
Central to the successful deployment of the Alloptic solution is the optimization of a management system and operational framework that will ensure that Alloptic provides carriers with the best long-term solution, providing fully-mechanized interfaces and offering the lowest total cost of ownership and highest operational efficiency.
  • Our Gigabit Element Management System (GEMS) is a fully featured, scalable element management system that delivers carrier-class fault, configuration, administration, performance and security (FCAPS) capabilities.

  • The GigaVU user interface manages the edge components and controls all electronics. Using a web based point-and-click graphical user interface, all aspects of the network can be controlled.
Standards Based
Alloptic is fully committed to developing and promoting a standards-based Gigabit Ethernet PON solution. Alloptic's GEPON currently adheres to the IEEE 802.3 protocol to encapsulate data in Ethernet frames for transmission. Recently, Alloptic was a catalyst in the establishment of a study group within the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) that will adopt standards for "Ethernet in the First Mile (EFM)". Alloptic has once again taken a leadership role in the GEPON space by convening a working group within the IETF to address the standardization of OAM&P capabilities for GEPON Element Management Systems.
