The Alloptic edge 200 is a full featured head-end controller for the Alloptic access system. It is a 16 gigabit Ethernet switch, a 2 PON OLT, and a TDM cross connect combined into a 2RU enviromentally hardened package.

The edge200 includes a system control and management functionality required to '0light up' the last mile and unleash unparalleled bandwidth. The edge200 offers digital and RF video, high-bandwidth Internet access, TDM and IP based voice services. The edge200 supports up to 2 integrated Optical Line Termination cards (OLTs) that can connect up to a maximum of 2 individual Gigabit EPON networks and a total of 64 ONTs. |
| Traffic Routing and Grooming |
The edge200 supports 4x T1/E1 ports for 96 DS0 terminations supporting for traditional Telephony services. This grooming function allows any POTS or T1/E1 interface on any EPON in the system to be 'cross-connected' to any channel in telephony interface. Likewise, Data packets may be assigned VLAN tags on the subscriber Ethernet port and switched either to the GbE ports in the edge chassis, or to any other Ethernet port that is serviced by the edge200.
